Destiny Herring: Ap Art Portfolio

At the beginning, I only used dark colors, specifically dark purples and grays, to emphasize the darkness someone feels when being abandoned. The idea would have been to show the darkness that someone felt after being abandoned, and the darkness that someone has when they abandon another, creating balance. However, as I explored my options to get the idea across, I decided that bright colors, like in images 6 and 10, could also show balance in my works as well. I used children to display the innocence that an abandonee can have, and have no clue that they have been abandoned. At the end of my concentration I began to think of a variety of ways abandonment can be exhibited, other then showing a silhouette, like in images 6,9, and 12. In images 1 and 2, the idea is that you are abandoning yourself. In Image 1, it shows being abandoned by your shadow, and image 2 being abandoned by your own image. Another type of abandonment that I have depicted through my work would be abandoned by the world. In images 5 and 6, both the individuals are alone in the world, though in image 5, the person knows they are alone. In image 6, the child does not understand, and continues to play.
The central idea of my Concentration was the act of being abandoned, and the act of someone abandoning. Centralizing on both points of view.
